Vodacom Names Waldi Wepener as New Managing Executive for Western Region

In his role, Wepener will be overseeing the operations of the business unit, driving growth and enhancing stakeholder engagement in the Western Cape while accelerating Vodacom’s commitment to digital inclusion.

Vodacom  has appointed Waldi Wepener as the new Managing Executive of Vodacom Western Region. Wepener takes over the position from Carol Hall, who retired after a 30-year career at Vodacom at the end of June this year.

In his role, Wepener will be overseeing the operations of the business unit, driving growth and enhancing stakeholder engagement in the Western Cape while accelerating Vodacom’s commitment to digital inclusion.

In the past financial year, Vodacom invested R350 million into the Western Cape network to increase broadband coverage and strengthen network resilience across the province.

Wepener has 25 years of telco experience gained in several markets across Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. He joined Vodacom in 2013 and has been serving as the Managing Executive of Commercial Management at Vodacom Business since 2020. He was responsible for sales operations, customer value management (CVM), deal enablement, in-life commercial and business performance management. He has been instrumental in introducing new commercial management practices to support improved sales performance, building scale in CVM outcomes and delivering several digital transformation programmes.

Wepener is a chartered management accountant, holds an MBA degree from Henley Business School and completed the Vodacom Advanced Executive Programme in 2017.
