The one-day programme, held in Abuja in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), was designed to enhance leadership, improve service delivery, and promote citizen-focused digital systems within the public sector.

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy has completed the training of 438 civil servants drawn from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

The one-day programme, held in Abuja in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) , was designed to enhance leadership, improve service delivery, and promote citizen-focused digital systems within the public sector. The training falls under the broader vision of building a digitally empowered government capable of delivering secure, efficient, and innovative services.

Participants were introduced to modern strategies for deploying Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in government operations. The sessions emphasized the importance of bridging digital skills gaps, adopting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing, and prioritizing cybersecurity to safeguard public sector operations.

The programme also highlighted the need for continuous upskilling and the adoption of flexible training methods, including microlearning, online platforms, and hybrid models, to keep pace with evolving digital demands.

KOICA representatives shared insights from South Korea’s experience in building citizen-centric digital platforms, underscoring how collaboration between government, enterprises, and citizens can generate new value and innovation.

Beneficiaries of the training welcomed the initiative, noting its timeliness in addressing the challenges facing Nigeria’s digital transformation drive. They acknowledged the ministry’s commitment to equipping civil servants with practical skills that will support the country’s long-term digital economy goals.

By strengthening digital competencies across government agencies, the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy aims to enhance efficiency, improve citizen experience, and ensure Nigeria keeps pace with global trends in governance and technology.
