Paystack and FAAN Partner to Launch Cashless Airport Access Payments

September 1, 2025
2 min read

By integrating cashless payments into airport operations, FAAN and Paystack are helping modernize the travel experience across Nigeria.

Paystack  has partnered with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)  to introduce a new cashless solution that simplifies airport access fee payments. The initiative is designed to make entry into airports faster, more secure, and more convenient for drivers.

At the center of this rollout is the FAAN Prepaid NFC Card, which allows drivers to pay access fees with a simple tap at airport gates. By eliminating cash transactions and reducing delays, the system improves traffic flow, shortens wait times, and provides a safer, contactless payment option.

The card is available at FAAN terminals in Lagos and Abuja. Users can activate it by registering online or via QR code, verifying their phone number, funding their wallet with as little as ₦1,000, and linking the card to their account. Once set up, the card can be used seamlessly at any participating airport gate.

At the point of access, drivers select their vehicle type on the Paystack-powered terminal, view the displayed fee, and complete the payment by tapping their card. The system instantly processes the payment, after which the gate opens automatically.

The infrastructure behind the service ensures accuracy in fee calculation, high-speed processing, and secure transactions. Wallet balances are insured, and the platform is designed to handle high traffic volumes during peak travel times.

The first phase of the rollout is underway in Lagos and Abuja, with nationwide expansion expected before the end of 2025. By integrating cashless payments into airport operations, FAAN and Paystack are helping modernize the travel experience across Nigeria.
