NITDA and Benue State Launch “One Student, One Computer & One Skill+” Initiative
The initiative is viewed as a bold step towards positioning Benue as a hub for digital skills development, while aligning with NITDA’s broader mission to build a digitally inclusive and knowledge-driven Nigeria.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has joined stakeholders in Benue State to celebrate a landmark initiative promoting digital literacy and innovation among young people. The event, held in Makurdi, marked the Graduation Ceremony of the first Summer Tech Training, the induction of Digital Benue Children Ambassadors, and the official launch of the “One Student, One Computer & One Skill+” initiative, organised by the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) Plc.
Through the summer camp, more than 80 participants received hands-on training in software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and workplace readiness. The programme is designed to equip the next generation with skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
One of the highlights of the event was the induction of graduates as Digital Benue Children Ambassadors, an initiative aimed at nurturing young champions of digital culture who will encourage their peers and communities to embrace technology-driven opportunities.
The unveiling of the “One Student, One Computer & One Skill+” scheme further underscored Benue State’s commitment to bridging the digital divide. By providing students with access to devices and skills training, the programme seeks to create a pipeline of future innovators and problem-solvers.
Representing NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the agency’s Director of Zonal Office Coordination, Mr. Ajayi Babajide, congratulated the graduates and urged them to take pride in their new roles. He encouraged them to use their creativity and skills as tools for inspiring change within their communities and contributing to Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
