Guinea has marked a historic step in its digital transformation journey with the official launch of its national domain “.gn” and the inauguration of the country’s first Tier III national data center.
The high-profile ceremony was chaired by Djiba Diakité, Minister, Chief of Cabinet and Chairman of the Simandou Strategic Committee, alongside General Amara Camara, Minister Secretary General of the Presidency. The event brought together representatives of republican institutions, members of the CNR and government, senior civil and military authorities, members of the diplomatic corps, and Guinea’s technical and financial partners.
One of the most notable announcements during the event was that Conakry will host the 7th edition of the Transform Africa Summit (TAS25) from November 12–14, 2025. Focused on Artificial Intelligence, the summit will make Conakry the first West African capital — and Guinea the first Francophone country in Africa — to host the landmark continental forum.
In another major development, authorities confirmed a 25% reduction in Internet tariffs by Orange Guinea, a move hailed as a breakthrough for digital inclusion and accessibility in the country.
The ceremony underscored Guinea’s growing ambition to establish itself as a leading player in Africa’s digital economy. The projects and announcements were made possible through the support of key partners, including the World Bank, Orange Guinea, Sky Connect, VDC Telecom, CBG, GUICOPRES, MTN, ARPT, ANSUTEN, SOGEB, GUILAB, Leader Net Service, Huawei, Poste SA, ANDE, ANSSI, and Canal+.
These initiatives highlight the government’s commitment to modernizing digital infrastructure, reducing connectivity costs, and positioning Guinea as a hub for innovation and technology in the region.
