The State Information Technology Agency SITA , in collaboration with the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) , has launched a major skills development initiative aimed at preparing young South Africans for the digital economy.

As part of the program, 300 students received training in critical technology fields, with 100 participants each specializing in cybersecurity, cloud computing, and creative digital skills. The initiative is designed to empower youth with practical knowledge and strengthen their readiness for careers in the country’s growing digital sector.

SITA emphasized that the project reflects its commitment to transformation through opportunity, while NEMISA highlighted the importance of equipping young people with future-facing skills that will drive innovation and economic growth.

The program is part of broader national efforts to ensure that South Africa’s workforce is prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the rapidly evolving digital era.
