The SMART Zambia Institute (SZI)  has successfully concluded a week-long digital capacity training program for government officers in Nakonde, Muchinga Province. The workshop, held at the Nakonde Council Chambers from September 1 to 5, 2025, brought together Registry Officers and Secretaries to strengthen their digital competencies in line with the national e-Government vision.

Led by Acting Principal ICT Officer Hopeday Lumpaula, the training covered key modules including digital governance frameworks, the country’s digital transformation agenda, smart office practices, and basic computer troubleshooting. A significant component of the program focused on cybersecurity awareness, with sessions on secure use of digital platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook.

The initiative aimed to provide participants with practical, hands-on knowledge to improve service delivery, enhance secure information management, and align day-to-day administrative work with Zambia’s broader digital transformation strategy. Participants welcomed the program, noting its practical emphasis on real-world digital governance challenges.
