NITDA and Jigawa Partner to Drive Nigeria’s Digital Transformation

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) , in collaboration with the Jigawa State Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, has hosted the NITDA-Sub National Engagement and IT Ecosystem Development Programme in Dutse.

Themed “Creating Opportunities, Breaking Boundaries Towards Digitalisation and Entrepreneurial Evolution,” the forum brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to review Jigawa’s progress in ICT development and explore strategies for positioning the state as a sub-national leader in Nigeria’s digital economy.

Discussions centered on strengthening partnerships and aligning commitments to accelerate Jigawa’s digital transformation. Stakeholders emphasized the need for digital literacy and inclusion as critical foundations for sustainable growth and competitiveness.

Representing NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Dr. Ayodeji Eniola reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to driving digital inclusion through the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF). He explained that the framework is designed to ensure equitable access to digital opportunities, equipping the non-formal economy, the workforce, and academia with essential digital skills.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of collaboration between federal and state governments to foster innovation, support entrepreneurship, and advance economic diversification through technology adoption.

With Jigawa State’s growing focus on ICT and digital economy initiatives, the program marks a significant step in aligning state-level ambitions with Nigeria’s broader national digital strategy.
