Algeria Accelerates Fiber Optic and Mobile Network Expansion in Masila
These initiatives form part of Algeria’s broader digital transformation strategy, which aims to modernize infrastructure, expand coverage, and improve service delivery to citizens.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has confirmed major progress in upgrading communication services across the State of Masila. The projects come as part of the directives issued by Minister Syed Ali Zarooqi during his working visit to the region in April 2025, where he emphasized the need to accelerate infrastructure improvements and meet strict deadlines.
On September 11, 2025, more than 17,000 new Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) lines were commissioned across different municipalities of Masila. The rollout was designed to address delays that had been identified earlier in the year. In addition, construction work is advancing on more than 28,000 additional fiber optic lines, which are scheduled for completion before the end of October 2025. This expansion is expected to significantly improve internet accessibility and speed for residents across the state.
Alongside fiber optic deployment, the ministry has also pushed forward with mobile network upgrades. Three new Mobilis stations were activated on the same day, extending coverage and capacity for mobile users. In the coming days, more than 10 additional stations will be launched progressively across various municipalities, further strengthening mobile connectivity in underserved areas.
