The Central Bank of Oman (CBO ) has announced the launch of its National Payment Card, branded “Maal”, marking a significant milestone in the Sultanate’s journey toward strengthening the local financial ecosystem.

The initiative aims to achieve greater self-sufficiency in payment solutions while reinforcing Oman’s commitment to innovation and development in the financial sector. By introducing a national card, CBO seeks to reduce reliance on international systems, enhance efficiency, and provide secure, cost-effective options for both consumers and businesses.

The launch of “Maal” aligns with Oman’s broader Vision 2040 objectives, which emphasize digital transformation, financial inclusion, and sustainable economic growth.
