Bayobab Appoints Niraj Shah as General Manager for Data Centres Programme

Bayobab has announced the appointment of Niraj Shah as General Manager – Data Centres Programme, effective 1 September 2025. Niraj will report directly to Mazen Mroue, CEO of MTN Digital Infrastructure.
As a strategic MTN Group company, Bayobab is positioning itself as the leading provider of digital infrastructure across Africa, leveraging its connectivity, infrastructure, and FinTech capabilities to drive digital transformation. The Data Centres Programme is central to this vision, expanding Bayobab’s footprint and establishing it as the go-to platform for hyperscalers, enterprises, and governments seeking world-class co-location and cloud solutions.
Niraj brings over 15 years of experience in the data centre and digital infrastructure space, having held leadership and founding roles at IXAfrica and iColo. His expertise spans strategic growth, business development, partnerships, and ecosystem building to support scalable and sustainable infrastructure across the continent. He has played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s data centre industry and has led large-scale engagements with hyperscalers, cloud, and content providers.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University at Turlock.
