Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has approved the launch of electronic signature operations for state institutions, the private sector, and citizens, marking a significant step in Iraq’s digital transformation agenda.
The initiative, implemented under the Electronic Signature and Electronic Transactions Act No. (78) of 2012 and its 2025 guidelines, involved the first official electronic signature process carried out by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Communications.
The program is part of the government’s efforts to streamline administrative procedures, enhance service delivery, and reduce corruption associated with paper-based transactions. It is expected to improve efficiency across both public and private sectors while reinforcing citizen confidence in state processes.
The Ministry of Communications prepared the necessary infrastructure, including data centers and trained personnel, to facilitate the implementation of electronic signatures. The government is also advancing initiatives in digital transformation through administrative reforms, establishment of specialized centers, and the adoption of electronic systems across ministries.
