MazaoHub and CRDB Bank Foundation Collaboration Paves Way for Smarter, Inclusive Farming in Tanzania
The initiative leverages real-time agronomy data collected through MazaoHub’s Farmer Excellence Centers (Kliniki za Kilimo) across 15 regions, enabling farmers to demonstrate productivity and creditworthiness without conventional collateral.
MazaoHub , a Tanzanian agri-tech startup co-founded by Geophrey Tenganamba, has announced a strategic partnership with CRDB Bank Foundation aimed at expanding financial access and resources for smallholder farmers.
For years, many farmers in Tanzania have been excluded from formal financing due to the lack of traditional collateral. Under this new arrangement, farmers within the MazaoHub network will be able to access loans, agricultural inputs, precision farming tools, and reliable markets. The initiative leverages real-time agronomy data collected through MazaoHub’s Farmer Excellence Centers (Kliniki za Kilimo) across 15 regions, enabling farmers to demonstrate productivity and creditworthiness without conventional collateral.
The partnership is also a product of ecosystem development supported by the UNDP Tanzania–led FUNGUO Innovation Programme, which is funded by the European Union in Tanzania, the Republic of Finland, and the British High Commission. FUNGUO backs youth-led innovations through mentorship, funding, and capacity building, helping startups like MazaoHub scale solutions that merge technology, finance, and entrepreneurship to benefit smallholder farmers.
By combining data-driven farming, access to finance, and market linkages, the collaboration highlights the potential of youth-led innovation to transform agriculture, enhance financial inclusion, and improve livelihoods across Tanzania.
