The partnership will focus on developing smart digital platforms and supporting the commercialization of academic ideas, with a strong emphasis on student participation in the innovation process.

The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM)  has entered into a strategic partnership with Adapt IT  Education to drive innovation in the African education technology (EdTech) sector. Speaking during the official launch of the collaboration on 15 September 2025, UDSM Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Prof. Nelson Boniface, said the initiative seeks to transform university research and student-led projects into practical solutions that respond to real challenges in schools and universities across the continent.

The partnership will focus on developing smart digital platforms and supporting the commercialization of academic ideas, with a strong emphasis on student participation in the innovation process. As part of its contribution, Adapt IT has donated 200,000 South African Rand to UDSM’s pre-incubation program, a move expected to empower more than 130 student innovators to develop their ideas into tangible products.

Both institutions noted that the collaboration underscores the potential of combining academic excellence with technological expertise to create locally driven solutions. They expressed commitment to advancing digital transformation and shaping the future of African education through collaborative, student-centered innovation.
