The launch of the Airtel Africa Foundation underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to create sustainable social impact across the continent, building on its extensive network and regional reach to support communities in meaningful ways.

At a global press conference held in Lagos on September 23, 2025, Airtel Africa  officially unveiled the Airtel Africa Foundation (AAF), a pan-African philanthropic initiative aimed at transforming lives across the continent. The Foundation has set an ambitious target to impact 10 million lives by 2030 through its four-pronged focus on Financial Inclusion, Education, Environmental Protection, and Digital Inclusion (FEED).

Originally launched in July 2024, the Foundation is governed by an independent board and operates across all 14 countries where Airtel Africa maintains operations.

Early initiatives are already underway. Schools are being adopted and upgraded, with 100 new scholarships awarded in Nigeria, while classrooms are transitioning to digital learning with teachers receiving IT training. Community tech hubs have been piloted in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and partnerships such as the $57 million UNICEF programme are equipping thousands of young people with critical digital skills for the future.

“We are empowering lives. We are touching lives. Enough for them to make the transformation themselves, with AAF as the catalyst.”

Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Chairman, AAF
