DStv Pricing Under Review in Ghana: NCA Grants Extension to Stakeholder Committee
The review comes amid growing concerns about the affordability of pay-TV services and the prevalence of piracy undermining both service quality and revenue in the sector.
The National Communications Authority (NCA ) has announced that the stakeholder committee tasked with evaluating DStv pricing in Ghana has requested and received an extension of one week to complete its work. The committee, which began its review on September 8, 2025, is now expected to submit its findings by September 29, 2025.
The committee’s mandate is twofold: to develop a shared understanding of DStv pricing for Ghana and propose mutually acceptable, commercially viable measures to address concerns raised by the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations; and to establish a roadmap to curb cross-border piracy of DStv decoders and services from Nigeria into Ghana.
In a statement, the NCA said the committee has made significant progress but required additional time to finalize its recommendations. The extension was approved by the Honourable Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.
The review comes amid growing concerns about the affordability of pay-TV services and the prevalence of piracy undermining both service quality and revenue in the sector.
The NCA reiterated its commitment to ensuring fair pricing, consumer protection, and sustainable industry practices as part of its regulatory mandate.
