Algeria’s University of Continuing Formation Launches National Week for Digital Education
The initiative highlights Algeria’s growing focus on integrating digital transformation into higher education.
The University of Continuing Formation (UFC) in Didouche Mourad has launched the National Week for Digital Education, an event running from September 23 to 30, 2025 under the theme “Digital Education is a Gain for the University of Algeria.” The initiative highlights Algeria’s growing focus on integrating digital transformation into higher education.
The opening ceremony brought together senior officials, including representatives of the National People’s Council, the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, the Supreme Governorate of Amazighia, and the National Authority for Transparency and Anti-Corruption, alongside university leaders, researchers, and new students.
In his address, UFC Director Professor Yahya Jafri described digital transformation as a strategic priority for the Algerian university system. He noted the institution’s progress in adopting integrated learning, producing digital educational content, and training more than 800 professors in media and communication technologies. This year, the university completed the design of 683 online lessons, including 120 in English, and developed 68 digital platforms to support student learning. He stressed that these investments strengthen quality, foster innovation, and create new opportunities for partnerships with economic and technological institutions.
The program’s first day featured a series of scientific presentations. Professor Saleh Belaid, chairman of the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, spoke about the council’s digital resources, while other speakers addressed topics such as visual distance learning and Algeria’s national system for online documentation. Dr. Saad Bolhia, Deputy Director of Pedagogy and Studies, outlined UFC’s achievements in developing digital platforms, and Dr. Zein Al-Abedin Boumlet highlighted the role of the National Department of University Prints in creating a national digital library.
As part of the event, the National Blood Agency officially launched a university-based blood donation campaign. Exhibitions were also organized, with displays from the National Council of University Publications, the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, and the university’s media and broadcasting platforms.
The week also marked the signing of a cooperation agreement between UFC and the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, enabling students to access the council’s digital library of more than 12,000 books. This partnership will further enrich the university’s digital education ecosystem and provide students with new resources for academic success.
By hosting the National Week for Digital Education, the University of Continuing Formation reaffirmed its pioneering role in distance learning and digital transformation in Algeria. The initiative underlines its dual mission of academic excellence and community engagement, positioning the institution as both a driver of innovation and a citizen university serving society’s broader needs.
