Through this enhanced collaboration, Senegal aims to solidify its role as Africa’s future digital innovation hub, offering inclusive and sustainable opportunities while ensuring that digital progress benefits every citizen.

Senegal has taken a major step toward advancing its digital transformation with the signing of a strategic partnership worth more than $10 million with the Gates Foundation. The announcement came during the 80th United Nations General Assembly, where President Bassirou Diomaye Faye met with Bill Gates, President of the Foundation, to formalize the agreement.
During the meeting, Senegal’s Minister of Communication, Telecommunication and Digital, Alioune Sall, presented the core pillars of the country’s New Technology Deal, an ambitious initiative launched by President Faye to accelerate digital innovation and strengthen the nation’s position in the global digital economy.
The partnership will support several transformative projects, beginning with the deployment of a universal digital identity that will be accessible to all Senegalese citizens. It will also fund the creation of an artificial intelligence hub, dedicated to driving innovation in health and agriculture, two sectors considered critical for inclusive development. In addition, the agreement will establish a Delivery Unit to ensure transparency, efficiency, and measurable results in the implementation of digital initiatives.
