The agreement marks a new chapter for Adamawa Television as it transitions into a more robust and globally connected broadcasting service, positioning the state at the forefront of media innovation in Nigeria.

In line with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s vision for digital transformation under the Adamawa 2.0 agenda, the Adamawa State Ministry of Information and Strategy has signed a landmark broadcasting service agreement with the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) .

The agreement, which followed a high-level meeting with the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Barr. Awwal D. Tukur, will see the state lease 2MHz on the Ku-band of NIGCOMSAT-1R satellite. This capacity will ensure reliable coverage, high availability, and extended reach for Adamawa Television (ATV), allowing the station’s broadcast footprint to cover a much larger part of Africa.

Speaking at the signing, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Iliya James, described the development as a milestone in modernizing state-owned media. He noted that the partnership would not only improve the visibility of Adamawa State across the continent but also strengthen the role of ATV in promoting government programs, investment opportunities, and the rich culture of the state.

“This collaboration with NIGCOMSAT is a big leap in our quest to reposition Adamawa Television for digital broadcasting. With this agreement, we are expanding our reach, deepening access to information, and showcasing Adamawa to the rest of Africa.”

Officials from NIGCOMSAT also expressed their commitment to supporting Adamawa State in achieving its digital broadcasting goals, stressing that the Ku-band lease will guarantee seamless transmission with wider coverage.
