The formation of this new leadership team signals a major milestone in the unification of CANAL+ and MultiChoice.

Calvo Mawela, the outgoing CEO of MultiChoice , has been appointed Chairman of CANAL+ Africa,  the new combined entity that integrates MultiChoice Group and CANAL+ operations across the entire African continent, including French-speaking territories. David Mignot has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the merged company, which will operate under a single leadership team drawn equally from both CANAL+ and MultiChoice.

Congratulating the newly appointed executives, David Mignot highlighted the strength and diversity of the team, which represents seven nationalities. He stressed that the leadership group has a proven track record across Africa and within the global group.

“We have an incredible Africa leadership team and has an exceptional track record across the continent and within the global group.  Working together, we will deliver growth across the continent by telling unique, high quality African stories, bringing great international content to our subscribers and leveraging our scale across the global company. With seven nationalities represented, this leadership team has the diversity, knowledge and networks to deliver best in class services and content for our subscribers – all enabled by commercial and technical excellence.”

David Mignot, CEO for Africa, CANAL+ Africa

The new management structure will oversee all operations across Africa and has been organized into three divisions: Operations, covering TV and Fiber activities; Content, which will manage sport and entertainment offerings; and Corporate Functions, ensuring the seamless integration of support services. The leadership includes senior executives from both companies, with appointments covering financial management, public affairs, human resources, technology, and brand communication, alongside dedicated leads for regional markets and content development.

As part of the structure, executives have been assigned responsibilities for French-speaking Africa, South Africa, and the Rest of Africa, as well as advertising, media sales, business operations, and integration. In addition, legal and finance functions for English-speaking African countries will be handled by dedicated senior leaders.

The formation of this new leadership team signals a major milestone in the unification of CANAL+ and MultiChoice. With a strong, diverse, and experienced management group, the combined entity aims to accelerate growth across the continent, foster innovation, and deliver high-quality content to audiences while leveraging its expanded scale and expertise.
