Cape Verde Accelerates Digital Transformation with World Bank Support

The Cabo Verde Digital project, funded by the World Bank , is advancing Cape Verde’s digital transformation and strengthening its digital competitiveness. The initiative aims to enhance the delivery of public services, with a focus on accelerating the digitization of government operations. A recent support mission by the World Bank focused on aligning perceptions between national institutions and the Bank regarding the project’s implementation and priorities for the upcoming period.
The government has set ambitious targets under the project, including delivering 60% of state services fully online by 2026 and increasing this figure to 80% by 2030. Beyond public services, the project also seeks to improve conditions for micro and small businesses, particularly young entrepreneurs in Cape Verde and the diaspora, enabling them to leverage digital platforms to access domestic and sub-regional markets.
Representing the government in discussions with the World Bank were the Minister of Digital Economy, Olavo Correia; the Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz; and the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy, Pedro Lopes. The engagement highlights Cape Verde’s commitment to building a digitally competitive economy while supporting local entrepreneurship and innovation.
