September 30, 2025
2 min read

The visit was necessitated by the rapid evolution of technology and emerging trends in the broadcasting industry which continue to shape the sustainability and relevance of the public service broadcaster.

The National Communications Authority (NCA)  has hosted a three-member delegation from the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation on a one-day benchmarking visit at the NCA Tower in Accra.

The delegation, led by the Ag. Director of Information Services at Tanzania’s Ministry of Information, Culture, Art and Sports, Mr. Rodney Thadeus Mbuya, visited the NCA to gain insight into how the government of Ghana funds and supports its state broadcaster. The visit was necessitated by the rapid evolution of technology and emerging trends in the broadcasting industry which continue to shape the sustainability and relevance of the public service broadcaster.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Director General of the NCA, the Director for Human Resources, Dr. Charles Amoah-Wilson, welcomed the team and highlighted the importance of such exchanges in strengthening cooperation between African institutions.

As part of the visit, the Authority’s engineers walked the delegation through the NCA’s mandate in the broadcasting sector, with a focus on licensing, spectrum management, monitoring, and other regulatory interventions that ensure a vibrant and competitive broadcasting environment in Ghana.

The engagement provided a platform for knowledge sharing and further deepened the relationship between the two countries’ broadcasting sectors. The parties acknowledged the value of collaboration in responding to new broadcasting challenges and opportunities across the continent.

The NCA reiterated its commitment to supporting peer regulators and stakeholders through capacity-building initiatives, benchmarking visits, and the exchange of best practices to advance Africa’s digital transformation agenda.

The Tanzanian delegation also included Mr. Nestory Leonard Madirisha, Head of Planning and Investment, and Mr. Juma Thomas, Principal Legal Officer – all at the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation.
