CANAL+ Names New Leadership Team to Drive Growth Across Africa
The appointments mark a major step in shaping CANAL+ Africa’s future, as the combined entity positions itself to drive growth and strengthen its footprint across the continent’s broadcasting and entertainment landscape.

CANAL+ Group has announced the formation of a new leadership team to oversee its expanded African operations, following the integration of MultiChoice Group into its structure.
As part of the reshuffle, Calvo Mawela, the outgoing CEO of MultiChoice, has been appointed Chairman of CANAL+ Africa. The entity will now oversee operations across the entire continent, including French-speaking territories. David Mignot has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the combined business. The leadership team has been drawn from both CANAL+ and MultiChoice, with each company contributing an equal number of senior executives.

The new structure will operate as a single management team across Africa, organized into three divisions: Operations (TV and fiber), Content, and Corporate Functions.
Key appointments include Nicolas Dandoy as CFO for Africa, Aziz Diallo as CEO for PayTV French-speaking Africa, Byron Du Plessis as CEO for PayTV South Africa, and Fhulufhelo “Fhulu” Badugela as CEO for PayTV Rest of Africa. Other leadership roles span content, advertising, communications, technology, human resources, public affairs, and integration, with senior figures such as Nomsa Philiso, Fabrice Faux, Rendani Ramovha, and Dr. Keabetswe Modimoeng taking on top positions.
In addition, Steven Budlendler has been named General Counsel for English-speaking Africa and Group Special Adviser for Common Law, while Tim Jacobs has been appointed Director of Group Synergies within the finance department.
