Rwanda, Cisco, and GIZ Partner to Open CyberHub for Advanced Cybersecurity Training

October 3, 2025
3 min read

This initiative, located at the University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology in Kigali, features a Cybersecurity Academy, Innovation Hub, and state-of-the-art technology labs designed to support training and education in cybersecurity.

Rwanda’s National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) , in collaboration with Cisco  and GIZ , announced the launch of the CyberHub — a new center aimed at advancing cybersecurity skills and innovation. This initiative, located at the University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology in Kigali, features a Cybersecurity Academy, Innovation Hub, and state-of-the-art technology labs designed to support training and education in cybersecurity. GIZ is an enabling key partner in the establishment of the CyberHub.

Beyond its foundational role in talent development, the CyberHub will offer training opportunities, including access to Cisco Networking Academy – one of the world’s longest-running IT skills-to-jobs programs – covering digital literacy, AI, and advanced cybersecurity certifications. It will also provide a collaborative space for learners and stakeholders to explore emerging technologies, including Cisco solutions that apply AI and machine learning to enhance threat detection, investigations, and response.

Rwanda’s National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) said it was delighted to launch the CyberHub, describing it as an important initiative dedicated to building talent with specialized skills in cybersecurity and data protection, and to supporting the development of a cybersecurity and data privacy ecosystem in Rwanda. The authority added that with modern infrastructure, relevant curriculum, and proven methodologies, the mission of the CyberHub was to help address critical skills gaps and support a workforce capable of tackling evolving challenges in cybersecurity, data protection, and privacy.

The CyberHub is part of Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program in East Africa, a strategic framework launched in 2023. Cisco’s CDA global program collaborates with government and private sector leaders around the world to build sustainable, secure, and inclusive innovation ecosystems powered by ethical and transformative technology solutions. With more than 1600 active or completed projects in 50 countries, it aims to create value for participating countries, their industries, and their citizens. A key pillar to CDA is Cisco’s Networking Academy, which, over the past 25 years, has trained over 16.6 million learners in Africa with essential digital skills such as networking, cybersecurity, and programming.

“Investing in Rwanda through the CyberHub reflects Cisco’s commitment to supporting the country’s digital transformation and preparing its workforce for the future. By collaborating with NCSA, we aim to empower more Rwandans with critical cybersecurity skills, contribute to strengthening the country’s cyber resilience, and foster innovation that benefits the entire region. We look forward to working with NCSA.”
