During the discussions, Dr. Boukar Michel highlighted Chad’s growing role in regional connectivity, emphasizing that with over 2,500 km of fiber-optic backbone, the country is proving that even a landlocked nation can become a hub for digital and regional integration.

The Minister of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Digitalization of the Administration, Dr. Boukar Michel, represented Chad at the prestigious Crans Montana Forum held in the Kingdom of Morocco, where he participated in three high-level sessions on Africa’s digital future.

During the discussions, Dr. Boukar Michel highlighted Chad’s growing role in regional connectivity, emphasizing that with over 2,500 km of fiber-optic backbone, the country is proving that even a landlocked nation can become a hub for digital and regional integration.

Addressing cybersecurity and digital sovereignty, the Minister underscored that “there is no digital transformation without trust and security.” He outlined Chad’s 360-degree security strategy, encompassing digital, physical, social, and environmental dimensions, as the foundation of true national sovereignty.

In a session dedicated to artificial intelligence, Dr. Boukar Michel spoke about the importance of smart public services, modern infrastructure, and the cities of the future, noting that today’s digital networks are becoming the AI platforms of tomorrow.

Expressing his appreciation, the Minister thanked Jean-Paul Carteron and the Crans Montana Forum team for providing a platform that promotes African voices and multilateral cooperation, as well as the Kingdom of Morocco for its renowned hospitality.

He concluded by reaffirming Chad’s commitment to working alongside its African peers:
“Africa is moving forward. Together.”
