South Africa’s Digital Skills Drive Gains Momentum at NEMISA Strategic Session

The Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Hon. Mondli Gungubele, MP, delivered a keynote address at the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) Board of Directors Strategic Planning Session, where he emphasized the need for stronger alignment between NEMISA’s initiatives and the Department’s overarching digital transformation agenda. The session served as a platform for dialogue on how NEMISA can effectively contribute to South Africa’s national priorities — particularly in the areas of digital skills development, technological innovation, and inclusive economic growth.
During his address, Deputy Minister Gungubele underscored the critical importance of industry-driven digital skills training and collaborative partnerships across the digital ecosystem. He noted that as the digital economy continues to evolve rapidly, NEMISA’s role must expand to ensure the country’s workforce is equipped with the skills required to thrive in a data-driven world.
