The Nigerian Digital Trustmark Initiative is designed to certify and recognize digital platforms that meet top standards in data protection, cybersecurity, and user trust.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  has announced the launch of the Nigerian Digital Trustmark Initiative, a major step toward enhancing trust and safety in the country’s digital ecosystem. During a press conference, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, described the initiative as a forward-looking move by the Federal Government to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy by ensuring that digital interactions and transactions are secure, transparent, and reliable.

The Nigerian Digital Trustmark Initiative is designed to certify and recognize digital platforms that meet top standards in data protection, cybersecurity, and user trust. By introducing this certification system, NITDA aims to promote responsible innovation and improve the quality of digital service delivery nationwide. The initiative will serve as a benchmark for organizations that prioritize user safety and uphold ethical practices in the digital space.

Through this development, NITDA is reinforcing its role as a key driver of Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda. The agency emphasized that building trust is essential for a thriving digital economy, where citizens can engage confidently and businesses can operate securely. The Digital Trustmark portal, which will facilitate registration and certification processes, is scheduled to be launched next week, marking a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward a safer and more trusted digital environment.
