Djibouti Embarks on AI Education Revolution with Inspectorate Training Program
This initiative represents a major step forward in promoting innovation and digital literacy among education leaders in Djibouti.
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the General Inspectorate of National Education (IGEN) officially launched a training program on artificial intelligence (AI) applied to education, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFOP) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). The initiative marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of Djibouti’s education system.
The training forms part of the 2025–2026 Annual Continuing Education Plan and targets all educational inspectors within MENFOP. Its primary objective is to enhance inspectors’ competencies in the ethical, pedagogical, and professional use of AI, ensuring that technology is harnessed to improve supervision, training, and educational decision-making processes.
The program is being led by Dr. Houssein Ahmed Assowe, Director of the Center for Research in Mathematics and Digital Technology and Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Djibouti. It combines theoretical modules with case studies and hands-on workshops, allowing participants to explore how AI tools can be effectively integrated into educational management and classroom practices.
The training is structured around seven intensive sessions, scheduled between October 2025 and January 2026, each focusing on critical aspects of AI in education. These include topics such as digital ethics, data management, adaptive learning technologies, and AI-driven decision support systems.
This initiative represents a major step forward in promoting innovation and digital literacy among education leaders in Djibouti. By equipping inspectors with the necessary knowledge and skills, the program reinforces their central role in guiding teachers and institutions toward ethical, responsible, and effective use of AI in education. Ultimately, this training seeks to strengthen educational governance and support a more dynamic, technology-empowered learning environment across the country.
