Liberia Protects Digital Infrastructure as Urban Resilience Project Expands Across Major Cities
The large-scale infrastructure initiative, overseen by the Public Works Ministry, involves a major pipeline upgrade requiring precise coordination to prevent disruption of underground fiber-optic networks — the backbone of Liberia’s broadband connectivity.

The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) is working closely with the Ministry of Public Works to ensure the protection of critical telecommunications infrastructure during the ongoing Urban Resilience Project across central Monrovia, Brewerville, and Paynesville.
The large-scale infrastructure initiative, overseen by the Public Works Ministry, involves a major pipeline upgrade requiring precise coordination to prevent disruption of underground fiber-optic networks — the backbone of Liberia’s broadband connectivity. These cables deliver high-speed internet services to schools, hospitals, businesses, government offices, and homes nationwide.
The fiber-optic backbone, developed through investments by Orange Liberia and CSquared, leverages ACE Cable capacity distributed through underground terrestrial ducts. This system is a key enabler of Liberia’s national and cross-border connectivity, supporting digital inclusion and economic growth.
To safeguard this vital infrastructure, LTA engineers are collaborating directly with Urban Resilience Project engineers, ensuring that fiber pathways are properly mapped and protected throughout the construction process. Their joint efforts aim to maintain service continuity and uphold the integrity of Liberia’s expanding broadband network while advancing essential urban development.
The initiative reflects a coordinated approach to infrastructure management — balancing urban modernization with the preservation of national digital assets crucial to Liberia’s social and economic resilience.
