Vodafone Egypt and Legacy Bring IoT Innovation to the Grand Egyptian Museum
The agreement marks a major step in Egypt’s efforts to merge cultural heritage with modern innovation.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities witnessed the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Legacy for Management and Development Company, the service operator of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), and Vodafone Egypt, the museum’s official and exclusive technology partner.
The agreement marks a major step in Egypt’s efforts to merge cultural heritage with modern innovation. Under the partnership, Vodafone Egypt will deploy an integrated Internet of Things (IoT) platform to connect and unify all of the museum’s operational systems — from lighting, ticketing, and visitor flow to parking, energy management, and security — creating one of the world’s most advanced smart-museum environments.
The IoT-based system will enhance operational efficiency, improve visitor experiences, and support environmental sustainability by optimizing resource usage and reducing the museum’s carbon footprint. Designed to be scalable, the system allows future integration of additional smart technologies without disrupting existing infrastructure.
The partnership embodies Egypt’s vision of establishing the Grand Egyptian Museum as a global cultural destination that fuses ancient heritage with cutting-edge technology. The project aligns with the state’s digital transformation strategy, reflecting collaboration between the government, private sector, and technology leaders to promote innovation across national landmarks.
By integrating Vodafone Egypt’s expertise in digital infrastructure with Legacy’s operational leadership, the Grand Egyptian Museum aims to set a new global standard for smart museum management — one that celebrates Egypt’s civilization while showcasing its leadership in the digital era.
