The four-day workshop, organized with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), served as a pivotal forum to evaluate Guinea’s readiness for the adoption, regulation, and governance of artificial intelligence.

The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and the Digital Economy (MPTEN) successfully concluded the National Workshop for the Assessment of the Artificial Intelligence Landscape (AILA) on Friday, October 17, 2025. The four-day workshop, organized with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), served as a pivotal forum to evaluate Guinea’s readiness for the adoption, regulation, and governance of artificial intelligence.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants, including public authorities, private sector representatives, academic institutions, technical experts, and civil society organizations. Through intensive and collaborative discussions, participants conducted a comprehensive review of the country’s current capabilities, infrastructure, and institutional framework related to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

At the conclusion of the workshop, several key recommendations were proposed to guide the next steps in Guinea’s digital transformation journey. These include the development of a national strategy for ethical and sustainable AI, the establishment of a clear legal and regulatory framework, strengthening national skills and digital infrastructure, and stimulating local innovation while promoting citizen participation.

In her closing remarks, Minister Rose Pola Pricemou commended the quality of the discussions and the high level of engagement demonstrated by all stakeholders. She emphasized that the workshop’s outcomes represent a decisive step toward the development of a national AI strategy tailored to Guinea’s specific needs and ambitions.

Minister Pricemou stated that the foundations were now laid to transform diagnosis into action and vision into concrete results, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building an inclusive, innovative, and forward-looking digital ecosystem.

The AILA initiative marks an important milestone in Guinea’s efforts to harness artificial intelligence for socioeconomic development, governance modernization, and technological sovereignty, positioning the country to play a leading role in Africa’s digital future.
