The Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania have signed a new work program for 2026–2027 focused on the digital transformation of the justice system, marking another milestone in the growing partnership between the two countries in the legal and judicial fields. The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of Morocco’s Ministry of Justice in Rabat and was presided over by Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi and his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Ould Aswedat.
This agreement builds upon the strong foundations of bilateral cooperation and shared commitment to modernizing judicial administration, strengthening transparency, and enhancing access to justice for citizens. It aims to deepen collaboration in key areas such as digital infrastructure development, e-justice services, training and capacity building for judicial professionals, and the modernization of legal frameworks related to emerging technologies.
The work program reflects a joint vision to promote digital transformation as a driver of efficiency and inclusiveness in justice delivery. It also emphasizes the exchange of experiences in judicial digitization, institutional modernization, and continuous professional training within the justice sector.
During the signing ceremony, both ministers reaffirmed their countries’ determination to strengthen South–South cooperation and to leverage digital transformation as a tool for improving access to justice and public service delivery. The discussions also highlighted the need for enhanced cross-border cooperation to address shared challenges such as migration management and combating human trafficking, emphasizing the importance of legal protection and humanitarian solidarity.
The two sides agreed to continue joint coordination to implement the newly signed work program and maintain collaboration in areas including judicial digitalization, cross-border crime prevention, and institutional reform.
