Mauritania Launches National E-Commerce Strategy (2026–2030) to Drive Digital Economic Growth
This initiative aligns with the vision of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and the government led by Prime Minister Mohtar Ould Ajay, to foster inclusive dialogue around national public policies and accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Administration Era (MTNIMA) hosted a consultative workshop at the International Conference Center – Al-Mukhtar Ould Daddah to validate Mauritania’s National E-Commerce Strategy (2026–2030).
The session was chaired by Mr. Khaled Abedin Sidi, Secretary-General of the Ministry, and brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society, and academia. The workshop marks a key step in advancing Mauritania’s efforts to develop a robust digital economy.
This initiative aligns with the vision of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and the government led by Prime Minister Mohtar Ould Ajay, to foster inclusive dialogue around national public policies and accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
The strategy aims to integrate classified and non-classified businesses into the formal economic cycle, promote digital trade inclusion, and build a resilient, competitive digital economy. It was developed through collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Tourism and other relevant stakeholders, building on insights from the Mauritania E-Commerce Readiness Study presented during UNCTAD’s eWeek in Geneva in December 2023.
Once validated, the National E-Commerce Strategy will serve as a roadmap for modernizing trade systems, improving market access, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through digital innovation.
