Ministry of Digital Transition Backs Burkinabe Tech Brand VIIM in Advancing Local Innovation

The initiative aims to contribute to the country’s digital sovereignty by promoting locally developed technology.

The Minister of Digital Transition, Postal and Electronic Communications, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, held a meeting with Abas Zangré, promoter of the Burkinabe technology brand VIIM, which specializes in the production of laptops and Android tablets adapted to local climatic conditions.

During the audience, Zangré presented the objectives of the VIIM initiative, emphasizing its mission to design and manufacture durable, climate-resilient electronic devices suited for Burkina Faso’s environment. The initiative aims to contribute to the country’s digital sovereignty by promoting locally developed technology.

Dr. Zerbo/Sabane commended the innovation behind the VIIM project and encouraged its founder to learn from existing national experiences in the technology sector to strengthen its implementation. She also highlighted the importance of establishing a production unit that could create employment opportunities for young people, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting local entrepreneurship and industrial growth within the digital economy.

The meeting reflects Burkina Faso’s broader vision to promote homegrown digital innovation and foster a sustainable technology ecosystem that supports national development.
