The company continues to invest significantly in expanding and modernising its network, ensuring world-class coverage, quality, and reliability for consumers, businesses, and the public sector.

MTN South Africa  today hosted the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA ) as part of its ongoing multi-stakeholder engagement programme, reinforcing its commitment to working with regulators, government and industry partners to advance South Africa’s digital and economic development.

The high-level engagement brought together MTN South Africa’s incoming Deputy CEO, Yolanda Cuba, accompanied by Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Nompilo Morafo, and the MTN executive leadership team, and ICASA’s delegation led by Mothibi Ramusi.

The session focused on key priorities for the telecommunications industry and the country at large, including the cost to communicate, continued investment in digital infrastructure, digitisation of government and society, and collaborative solutions to industry challenges.

“Today’s engagement is not just about regulation, it’s about collaboration and getting to know you, MTN. By working together, we can unlock the full potential of technology to bridge the digital divide, empower communities, and strengthen South Africa’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.”

– Mothibi Ramusi, Chairman, ICASA

“At MTN, we recognise that open and constructive engagement with our regulators and partners is essential to building a sustainable, inclusive and competitive telecoms industry. We are committed to working closely with ICASA and all stakeholders to ensure that every South African benefits from the power of reliable, affordable, and innovative connectivity.”

-Yolanda Cuba, incoming Deputy CEO, MTN South Africa

MTN reiterated its position as a responsible, proudly South African company dedicated to advancing the lives of South Africans through digital innovation. The company continues to invest significantly in expanding and modernising its network, ensuring world-class coverage, quality, and reliability for consumers, businesses, and the public sector.

Through its Ambition 2025 strategy, MTN South Africa has accelerated its rollout of 4G and 5G infrastructure and implemented initiatives that promote digital inclusion, such as the Smartphone For All. These rollouts and initiatives are aimed at driving the country’s digital transformation and enabling new opportunities for growth across sectors. These investments are directly aligned with national priorities, including job creation, small business development, and the broader digitalisation of the South African economy.

The meeting forms part of MTN South Africa’s broader multi-stakeholder engagement strategy, designed to enhance collaboration with key partners in government, business, and civil society to create shared value and accelerate South Africa’s progress toward an inclusive, connected future.

“We are proud to play our part in developing a vibrant and sustainable telecoms sector that contributes meaningfully to the country’s economic recovery and growth. Together with ICASA and other industry partners, we are building a South Africa that is connected, competitive, and ready for the future.”

-Yolanda Cuba, incoming Deputy CEO, MTN South Africa
