In his remarks, Minister Mutati described the Zambia–Czech Republic relationship as a model of pragmatic and forward-looking cooperation, grounded in mutual respect and a commitment to human capital and innovation.

Zambia reaffirmed its long-standing friendship and growing cooperation with the Czech Republic during a National Day reception held in Lusaka. Representing His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema, Minister of Technology and Science Felix Chipota Mutati highlighted the enduring relationship between the two nations, which dates back to 1965, and emphasized their shared vision for progress in technology, education, and sustainable development.

In his remarks, Minister Mutati described the Zambia–Czech Republic relationship as a model of pragmatic and forward-looking cooperation, grounded in mutual respect and a commitment to human capital and innovation. He noted that the partnership has continued to evolve over the decades, producing tangible outcomes in technology transfer, capacity building, and infrastructure modernization.

A key highlight of this collaboration is the successful “Tech for Zambia” forum, co-hosted by both countries earlier this year. The event brought together Czech and Zambian companies to explore joint opportunities in cybersecurity, automation, and advanced engineering. Minister Mutati proposed that the forum become an annual platform to strengthen industrial partnerships and drive innovation.

Education and human capital development have been central to the bilateral relationship. Since 2000, over 500 Zambian students have benefited from Czech government scholarships, supporting the training of professionals in health, science, and technology. This ongoing investment in human resources reflects both nations’ commitment to building knowledge-based economies and preparing the next generation for the global workforce.

Minister Mutati also recognized the Czech Republic’s significant financial support to Zambia’s development programs, including an annual contribution of €3 million (2024–2031) for national development initiatives and €10 million in funding through Sikoda Transport for the modernization of Zambia’s rail infrastructure. These contributions underscore the Czech Republic’s long-term commitment to Zambia’s growth and modernization agenda.

Czech Ambassador Jiří Kyrian introduced a new slogan to symbolize the partnership — #ZambiaKuchaloCzechia, meaning “Zambia to the world, to the future.” The phrase captures the spirit of collaboration and mutual ambition driving both nations toward shared prosperity.

Minister Mutati concluded by emphasizing that all cooperative efforts must ultimately lead to the transformation of people’s lives and align with Zambia’s 8th National Development Plan. He extended warm congratulations to the President, Government, and people of the Czech Republic on the occasion of their National Day, reaffirming Zambia’s dedication to deepening the partnership in the years ahead.
