Through these initiatives, MoMo continues to drive financial inclusion in Uganda, empowering users with digital solutions that simplify payments, expand investment opportunities, and support economic participation.

MTN Uganda ’s mobile money platform, MoMo, participated in the 3rd Annual National Microfinance & Savings Groups Conference held at Hotel Africana & Convention Centre. The event, themed “Sustainable Financial Inclusion for Environmental, Economic and Social Impact,” brought together policymakers, practitioners, and development partners to explore strategies for advancing financial inclusion in Uganda.

Hellen Kirungi, Senior Manager for BankTech at MoMo, highlighted the platform’s recent innovations during a panel discussion. She noted that MoMo’s cross-border payment feature now allows users to make seamless transactions beyond Uganda, including payments to merchants in Tanzania via M-PESA Africa and purchases at Dubai Duty Free using only their mobile phones.

Kirungi also presented Yinvesta, a service enabling customers to start investing with as little as UGX 500, making investment opportunities more accessible to a wider population. Additionally, she discussed the MoMo Open API, which allows fintechs to integrate with the MoMo ecosystem, fostering innovation and the creation of customer-centric financial solutions.

Through these initiatives, MoMo continues to drive financial inclusion in Uganda, empowering users with digital solutions that simplify payments, expand investment opportunities, and support economic participation.
