UFC Reinforces Role of Higher Education in Algeria’s Digital and Economic Transformation
The sensitization day served as a platform to exchange ideas and strengthen cooperation between universities and economic sectors in promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and a knowledge-based economy.
The University of Continuing Formation (Université de la Formation Continue – UFC) , Didouche Mourad, organized a sensitization day, held both in-person and remotely, on the mechanisms for integrating economic institutions under Ministerial Resolution No. 008, amended by Resolution No. 1275. The event gathered professors, researchers, students, and representatives from contracting support bodies, financial organizations, and economic institutions from across the country.
The sensitization day served as a platform to exchange ideas and strengthen cooperation between universities and economic sectors in promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and a knowledge-based economy. Professor Yahya Jafari, Director of the University, opened the event by emphasizing the importance of spreading the culture of contracting and entrepreneurship within the university environment. He encouraged students to transform their innovative ideas into start-ups that could contribute to national economic development.
Professor Azizi Nazir, Director of the National Agency for the Evaluation of Research and Technological Development (ANVREDET) and National Coordinator for Business Incubators at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the essential role that universities play in guiding and accompanying student entrepreneurs. He stressed the need to turn innovative student projects into viable economic ventures that drive the national innovation ecosystem.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of a partnership agreement between the University of Continuing Formation and ANVREDET. This agreement aims to promote cooperation in applied research and innovation while supporting emerging enterprises within the academic environment.
Several experts also took the floor to share insights on the importance of partnerships between universities and economic institutions. Mr. Rabhi Adel, Director of the National Agency for Contracting Support and Development (NESDA), presented the agency’s mission and explained the mechanisms it provides to support university youth through training, mentorship, and financing. Dr. Bolhya Saad, Deputy Director for Pedagogy and Studies, discussed the legal framework that allows students to establish start-ups as part of their graduation projects under the revised Ministerial Resolution No. 1275.
Dr. Hagar Ayad, Director of the University’s Business Incubator, provided an overview of the incubator’s objectives, the categories of projects it supports, and its crucial role in accompanying students from the stage of idea development to project realization. Representatives from the National Bank of Algeria and the National Microloan Management Agency (ANGEM) also took part in the discussions, presenting financial mechanisms that support young entrepreneurs and start-ups.
During the event, several student-led economic projects from the Contracting Development Center were showcased, reflecting the creativity and determination of the university’s innovators. The day concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony for participants of the seventh and eighth training cohorts, held in a warm and collaborative atmosphere that underscored the strong partnership between the university and its institutional and economic partners.
This sensitization day is part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s broader strategy to promote a culture of contracting, entrepreneurship, and innovation within Algerian universities. It reaffirms the university’s commitment to supporting start-up creation and sustainable digital transformation, in line with the national vision for a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.
