The initiative also included visits to the Personal Data Protection Office and the Information Access Centre, emphasizing the close connection between data security, governance, and digital inclusion.

Uganda and Tanzania are strengthening their digital collaboration with a focused initiative on cybersecurity and data protection. From November 11 to 13, 2025, the Uganda National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U) welcomed a delegation from Tanzania’s Information and Communication Technologies Commission (ICTC) in Kampala, highlighting a growing trend of cross-border partnerships in Africa’s digital transformation.

During the visit, the Tanzanian team explored Uganda’s key digital infrastructure, including the National Data Centre and the National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), both central to safeguarding the country’s public-sector cybersecurity. The program provided an opportunity to exchange best practices, enhance technical expertise, and build resilience against the rising threat of cyberattacks.

The initiative also included visits to the Personal Data Protection Office and the Information Access Centre, emphasizing the close connection between data security, governance, and digital inclusion. By sharing its decade-long experience in cybersecurity frameworks, Uganda aims to reinforce its role as a regional hub for secure and resilient digital infrastructure, while fostering stronger cooperation among East African Community states to harmonize regulations and develop interoperable ICT systems.
