This innovative deployment represents a significant step in applying advanced connectivity to real-world challenges, combining high-speed digital networks with environmental stewardship.

ZTE Corporation  and MTN  have unveiled Africa’s first 5G Advanced Intelligent Safety and Control (5GA ISAC) deployment at AfricaCOM 2025 in Cape Town. The initiative leverages next-generation 5G technology to enhance port operations and ensure maritime safety, particularly around Hout Bay, where smart sensors help guide ships away from a seal sanctuary, protecting the local wildlife.

This innovative deployment represents a significant step in applying advanced connectivity to real-world challenges, combining high-speed digital networks with environmental stewardship. By integrating cutting-edge technology into operational and safety processes, the project demonstrates how 5G can drive efficiency, security, and sustainability, marking a new era in Africa’s digital and technological transformation.

“Through this deployment, we are showcasing how 5G innovation can create tangible benefits for both people and the environment, proving that technology can be a force for positive change,” said a ZTE representative.
