LG Electronics Partners with Expo City Dubai to Drive Smart City Innovation in the UAE
Beyond product supply, LG will contribute advanced integrated solutions to support the UAE’s ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, which aims to establish AI-enabled, sustainable cities powered by renewable energy.
LG Electronics (LG) is strengthening its qualitative growth strategy in the Middle East by securing strategic partnerships aimed at next-generation smart city development. The company recently signed a collaboration agreement with Expo City Dubai, an innovation-driven, people-centric community and the future hub of Dubai’s urban development. The agreement was formalized by Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer of Expo City Dubai, and William Cho, President of LG Electronics.
This partnership builds on LG’s long-standing relationship with Expo City Dubai, the legacy site of Expo 2020. Previously, LG supplied LED signage for Expo 2020 and committed to providing built-in home appliances—including refrigerators, dishwashers, and ovens—for 3,000 residences currently under construction within the smart city.
Beyond product supply, LG will contribute advanced integrated solutions to support the UAE’s ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, which aims to establish AI-enabled, sustainable cities powered by renewable energy. The company’s contributions will include AI data center cooling solutions, smart home systems powered by LG’s AI Home Hub, and robotics-based manufacturing solutions.
The partnership also strengthens LG’s role in advancing the UAE’s smart city goals, including carbon neutrality, energy-efficient infrastructure, and intelligent urban planning. LG plans to preferentially supply products to new Expo City residences while providing integrated smart home platforms and high-efficiency HVAC systems for upcoming infrastructure projects.
The agreement follows discussions held during the Korea–UAE Business Roundtable on 19 November in Abu Dhabi, attended by both governments. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in AI-powered service development and AI infrastructure. LG will also collaborate with Schneider Electric to jointly develop integrated solutions promoting sustainable and efficient living environments.
“With our advanced technologies and smart home solutions, we are committed to contributing to sustainable growth in the Middle East. We will accelerate efforts to capture new B2B and B2G opportunities with solutions built around each country’s future direction.”
– William Cho, CEO, LG Electronics
LG’s Middle East expansion is not limited to the UAE. In September, the company entered a strategic collaboration to support an AI data center within Oxagon, the advanced industrial district of Saudi Arabia’s NEOM gigaproject. LG also signed an MoU with ACWA Power, SHAKER Group, and DATAVOLT to provide advanced cooling solutions for DATAVOLT’s next-generation data center.
With a 30-year presence in the UAE and longstanding operations in Saudi Arabia—including a joint venture for AC manufacturing—LG continues to expand its influence in the B2B and B2G sectors. The company aims to increase its B2B business to approximately 45% of total revenue by 2030, reflecting its growing role as a provider of sustainable solutions for government-led and large-scale projects in the region.
