World Bank Launches High-Level Mission to Accelerate Ghana’s Digital Transformation

Discussions focused on enhancing Ghana’s competitiveness in artificial intelligence, expanding digital employment opportunities, advancing public-sector digitalisation, and strengthening cybersecurity resilience.

A high-level World Bank  delegation began a mission to Ghana on November 20th to accelerate the country’s digital transformation under the Ghana Digital Acceleration Project (GDAP). The delegation was led by Michel Rogy, Regional Practice Director for Digital Development; Jana Kunicová, Program Manager for Digital Transformation; and Steve Davenport, Senior Digital Governance Specialist, representing Sector Minister Sam Nartey George.

The first day of the mission included engagements with the GDAP Project Coordination Unit and a technical visit to the Cyber Security Authority’s National CERT facility. Discussions focused on enhancing Ghana’s competitiveness in artificial intelligence, expanding digital employment opportunities, advancing public-sector digitalisation, and strengthening cybersecurity resilience.

The World Bank delegation commended the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) and the GDAP Project Coordination Unit for the progress made to date and reiterated its commitment to supporting Ghana’s ongoing digital transformation journey.
