This achievement strengthens FNB Connect’s position as one of the country’s fastest-growing digital connectivity providers, driven by seamless integration with FNB’s digital ecosystem and customer-focused innovation.

FNB Connect  has officially surpassed one million active subscribers, marking a significant milestone for the bank’s mobile virtual network (MVNO) and reflecting the growing trend of South Africans seeking smarter, more value-driven connectivity solutions. This achievement strengthens FNB Connect’s position as one of the country’s fastest-growing digital connectivity providers, driven by seamless integration with FNB’s digital ecosystem and customer-focused innovation.

Over the 12 months between July 2024 and June 2025, FNB Connect customers used 26.2 petabytes of data, equivalent to approximately 11 million hours of HD video streaming on YouTube. In addition, users consumed more than 2.37 petabytes of free WhatsApp data, enabling billions of conversations, check-ins, and connections without concerns about running out of data.

Through the bank’s eBucks Rewards program, customers collectively earned 290 million eBucks (roughly R29 million) on airtime purchases and spent 190 million eBucks (approximately R19 million) on airtime, data, and new devices, highlighting the strength of FNB’s integrated ecosystem of banking, connectivity, and rewards. The MVNO also distributed over R4.5 billion in data rewards, helping to expand access to connectivity across both urban and rural areas.

Since launching its local eSIM in October 2024, FNB Connect has seen 127% cumulative growth in eSIM sales, which now account for 10% of all monthly SIM sales. The Global Travel eSIM, providing affordable prepaid international data across 200+ destinations, continues to grow by 20% month-on-month. Customers can activate and manage eSIMs directly through the FNB App, offering a fully digital experience without paperwork, plastic SIMs, or queues.

Device sales also contributed to growth, with over 64,000 credit and cash device purchases totaling R635 million. FNB Connect offered more than 400 device types over the past year, providing a broad selection of eSIM-enabled smartphones with flexible payment plans or one-off purchases using cash or eBucks.

FNB Connect’s milestone demonstrates the impact of combining innovation, inclusion, and sustainability in connectivity. Initiatives like free WhatsApp data, eBucks rewards, eSIM, and digital-first device programs have helped make connectivity simpler, smarter, more accessible, and environmentally responsible for South Africans across the country.
