November 26, 2025
1 min read

The initiative seeks to bridge digital gaps left by traditional service providers and improve access to technology in rural areas.

The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA)  hosted a working session for the Smart Village Initiative at the FAO office, aimed at gradually digitizing underserved and unserved communities across the country. The initiative seeks to bridge digital gaps left by traditional service providers and improve access to technology in rural areas.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sekou Kromah, praised the organizers and highlighted the initiative’s role in expanding digital inclusion. Pilot projects are currently underway in Forkolleh, Bong County, and Gbanqueh, Nimba County. According to Wolobah Gbozee, Deputy Managing Director for Operations at LTC Mobile, the pilot projects have shown positive results, though upgrades and improvements are ongoing.

The working session focused on three key objectives: allowing LTC Mobile to test the platform, gathering contributions from participants for platform content, and developing a comprehensive plan to guide the initiative forward. Representatives from multiple ministries, including Transport, Youth & Sports, Gender, Agriculture, Labour, and the Liberia Immigration Service, attended the session. LTA was represented by Strategy Manager Mr. Chrim A. Robinson and Corporate Planning and Development Manager Madam Kpanah Vivian Sao.
