Ebubekir Şahin to Guide Turkey’s Mobile Sector Through 5G Milestone as m-TOD President

At the 2025 Ordinary General Assembly of the Mobile Telecommunications Operators Association (m-TOD) held on November 24, 2025, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors; Türk Telekom CEO Ebubekir Şahin took over from Turkcell CEO Dr. Ali Taha Koç.

Türk Telekom  CEO Ebubekir Şahin became the new term president of the Mobile Telecommunications Operators Association (m-TOD),  which is chaired by Türk Telekom, Turkcell and Vodafone alternately every year.

At the 2025 Ordinary General Assembly of the Mobile Telecommunications Operators Association (m-TOD) held on November 24, 2025, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors; Türk Telekom CEO Ebubekir Şahin took over from Turkcell CEO Dr. Ali Taha Koç.

“As the most important actors of our country’s communication sector and m-TOD stakeholders, we know that we bear a great responsibility in the digital age. We are starting a new era at m-TOD, which was established in 2016 in order to bring our country to a pioneering, innovative and leading position in mobile communication technologies. As the countdown continues for 5G, which is a critical threshold in Turkey’s digitalization journey and will enter our lives on April 1, 2026, as m-TOD, we act with the awareness that this era is not only a technical update for Turkey, but also a strategic transformation that will open the doors to a new era. In this period when we are on the verge of many economic and social transformations, as an association; We aim for Turkey to be among the countries that set the standards in the global race. We aim to move our country to a position that produces, develops and offers value to the world in mobile technologies with strong collaborations that will grow the digital economy and support sustainable innovation.”

It acts with the aim of increasing cooperation between all players in the sector

Since its establishment in 2016, m-TOD has been aiming to produce policies that are applicable to all stakeholders regarding mobile communication technologies and that emerge as a result of a culture of cooperation and offers solutions to create a sustainable investment environment, and determined its roadmap and strategies for 2026 with the participation of m-TOD Board members at the 2025 Ordinary General Assembly meeting.

m-TOD was established in 2016 to take an active role in all processes related to the mobile field and to bring our country to a pioneering, innovative and leading position in this field. Founded by Türk Telekom, Turkcell and Vodafone and chaired by the general managers of the operators on a rotating annual basis, m-TOD acts with the aim of representing mobile communication technology at the association level in the national and international arena and increasing cooperation between all players in the sector. In addition to the relevant studies on sector regulations, m-TOD continues various projects that will protect competition principles and public interest.
