The initiative is expected to generate significant social and economic benefits, including job creation, local SME involvement, training of young talent, and technology transfer.

The Autonomous Port of Douala (PAD) has taken a major step forward in its digital transformation strategy with the signing of a landmark agreement for the deployment of 4G/5G and Smart Port technologies.

The agreement, signed on Monday at the PAD conference room in Bonanjo, brought together Cyrus NGO’O, Director General of PAD, and Joel MONEFONG, President General Manager of INNOVENDI. The partnership will see INNOVENDI, fully funding the project alongside its partners, install hybrid 4G/5G infrastructure, IoT solutions, proximity cloud systems, advanced cybersecurity tools, and intelligent interfaces to modernize operations at the Port of Douala-Bonabéri.

The public-private partnership (PPP) was established through a spontaneous offer evaluated by an ad hoc committee and aligns closely with PAD’s strategy to optimize operational performance, reduce cargo passage times, and enhance the competitiveness of the port. In return, INNOVENDI will pay PAD an entry fee, fixed and variable charges, and other duties under port regulations.

The initiative is expected to generate significant social and economic benefits, including job creation, local SME involvement, training of young talent, and technology transfer.

By adopting Smart Port solutions and cutting-edge digital infrastructure, PAD reinforces its ambition to meet international standards and maintain its position as a leading logistics hub in the Gulf of Guinea.
