Djibouti Launches National Cyber Security Authority to Strengthen Digital Defenses
In a significant boost to the ANC’s operational capacity, the Secretary-General of the Ministry handed over advanced technological equipment to the Authority.
The Ministère Délégué chargé de l’Economie Numérique et de l’Innovation (MDENI) of Djibouti recently held a strategic working meeting to advance the country’s cybersecurity initiatives. The session, chaired under the high patronage of Minister Mariam Hamadou Ali, brought together the General Secretariat of the Ministry, led by M. Abdallah Ibrahim, and the newly appointed Director General of the National Cyber Security Authority (ANC), Mr. Abdallah Ibrahim Yonis. The meeting marked a key step in the official launch of the ANC, an initiative recently approved by the President of the Republic to strengthen national digital security.
During the meeting, stakeholders reviewed the progress of ongoing cybersecurity projects and identified priority areas for cooperation within the framework of Djibouti’s Smart Nation Roadmap and Vision 2035. The discussions were also contextualized by Djibouti’s recent accession to the Hanoi International Agreement, a move aimed at reinforcing global collaboration in combating cybercrime.

The endowment included high-performance computers for incident response, firewalls and network security solutions compliant with international standards, high-capacity servers for processing sensitive data, monitoring screens for operational centers, and professional cybersecurity licenses. These resources are expected to greatly enhance the nation’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats.
The Ministry also focused on developing national cybersecurity skills. Twenty Coursera training licenses were issued to enable executives to access international certification programs in areas such as network security, incident management, malware analysis, risk assessment, and critical infrastructure protection. Minister Hamadou Ali emphasized that cybersecurity remains a cornerstone of Djibouti’s digital sovereignty and a central lever for building a resilient and competitive digital economy.
