The Smart Classrooms are equipped with interactive boards, computers, and internet connectivity, enabling teachers to adopt more engaging, technology-enhanced teaching methods.

Zambia’s Ministry of Education  has successfully digitalised 75 classrooms nationwide as part of its ongoing efforts to modernise the country’s education system. Education Minister Hon. Douglas Syakalima announced the milestone during a courtesy visit by Edulution Group Chief Executive Officer Richard Akwei and Country Head Ms. Muule Moonga.

Hon. Syakalima explained that the rollout of Smart Classrooms reflects the Ministry’s commitment to keeping pace with global technological advancements while ensuring equitable access to quality education for both urban and rural learners. The Smart Classrooms are equipped with interactive boards, computers, and internet connectivity, enabling teachers to adopt more engaging, technology-enhanced teaching methods.

He noted that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between traditional and digital learning environments, standardise the delivery of education, and ensure that no child is left behind, regardless of geographical location. “This programme is not only about technology but also about equity,” he said, emphasising the importance of preparing learners for a digital-driven future where technological competence is essential.

During the meeting, Edulution CEO Richard Akwei announced the organisation’s plan to reach more than 5,000 learners by 2026 through its structured numeracy and literacy interventions. The expansion targets learners in grades 4 to 7 and is built on an AI-driven learning programme. Akwei stated that scaling to this target would require additional resources, expanded coach capacity, and deeper partnerships with schools and communities.

Edulution Country Head Ms. Muule Moonga added that the organisation is working toward renewing its Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education to capture its achievements and align with future expansion goals. The current MoU remains valid until 2026.

Edulution Zambia is a nonprofit initiative focused on delivering innovative, technology-driven learning to underserved communities. Its programmes support foundational skills development in mathematics and literacy across government schools, community centres, and refugee settlements, ensuring that no learner is excluded from acquiring essential education skills.
