PureHealth Launches AI-Powered Diagnostic Mega Lab to Transform UAE Healthcare
According to PureLab leadership, the facility serves as a cornerstone of several national health programmes, including newborn screening, infectious disease monitoring, and organ and bone marrow transplant matching.
PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, has launched its flagship AI-powered Lab, a state-of-the-art diagnostic facility developed through its subsidiary PureLab. Spanning 70,000 square feet, the lab is now the UAE’s largest and most advanced standalone diagnostic centre, designed to elevate national diagnostic services through AI-driven automation, real-time quality control, robotics, and seamless connectivity to an extensive network of more than 140 accredited laboratories.
The facility was officially inaugurated by senior representatives from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) and PureHealth leadership. The seven-storey lab is equipped to process more than 30 million samples annually and includes additional capacity to accommodate future expansion. The launch supports the UAE’s long-term healthcare strategy by strengthening precision diagnostics and enhancing data-driven medical capabilities.
DoH leadership emphasized that the new lab aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision for a smart, integrated, patient-centric healthcare ecosystem. The AI-powered environment is expected to improve diagnostic accuracy, accelerate clinical decision-making, and contribute to the emirate’s position as a regional leader in advanced diagnostics and AI-enabled healthcare delivery.
Operating around the clock, PureLab’s AI-powered Lab integrates artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced automation, and energy-efficient systems to deliver rapid and reliable results at national scale. The centre offers more than 1,800 test parameters across multiple specialties, including anatomic pathology, molecular genetics, hematopathology, histocompatibility for transplants, infectious disease detection, and environmental testing.
A multidisciplinary team of 1,300 consultants supports the lab’s operations, providing deep expertise in diagnostics, laboratory management, and clinical workflows. The model is designed to ensure high levels of accuracy, privacy, and clinical relevance, enhancing both patient and clinician experience.
According to PureLab leadership, the facility serves as a cornerstone of several national health programmes, including newborn screening, infectious disease monitoring, and organ and bone marrow transplant matching. As the central hub of the UAE’s Digital Pathology Initiative, the lab leverages AI-powered digital pathology tools such as Whole Slide Imaging to convert traditional slides into high-resolution digital formats. This enables real-time AI-supported analysis, remote consultation between oncology centres, and significantly faster diagnostic turnaround.
Sustainability is also embedded into the facility’s design, with features such as a hybrid vehicle fleet, paperless digital reporting systems, energy-efficient infrastructure, and rooftop solar panels, supporting the UAE’s net-zero ambitions.
PureLab’s centralised model allows healthcare providers to access a broad range of diagnostics through a unified platform, reducing the need for multiple laboratory partners and improving operational efficiency. The lab also extends services to the community through walk-in diagnostics and home-testing pilots, reinforcing the UAE’s shift toward patient-centric and accessible data-driven healthcare.
