The Egyptian Customs Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with its Korean counterpart to enhance IT systems, support e-commerce, and modernize customs operations. The agreement focuses on updating Egypt’s customs information and communication technology systems to facilitate secure trade movement, reduce clearance times, and align operations with international standards.
The collaboration aims to leverage Korean expertise in smart systems, e-commerce, and modern logistics. Capacity-building programs will be organized for Egyptian customs personnel, alongside the development of integrated logistics systems for express mail shipments. These initiatives are intended to improve service efficiency, support digital transformation, and strengthen Egypt’s business environment.
Ahmed Amoui, Head of the Egyptian Customs Service, emphasized the strategic importance of international technical cooperation, particularly with Korea, to enhance digital capabilities and competitiveness. Lee Myung-Ko, Head of the Korean Customs Department, highlighted the intention to share technical knowledge and experience to support Egypt’s modernization efforts and expansion of e-commerce infrastructure.
